Receiving a Chief Commissioners Commendation from North Yorkshire Police

Dec 18, 2019Uncategorized

I didn’t think it was unusual that Rebecca asked if we were all free on a Saturday afternoon as we often see each other at a weekend.

What I did think was unusual was when Sgt Paul Cording arrived.

I learnt that afternoon from Paul that I had been nominated for an Inspirational Award within North Yorkshire Police but it had been decided that I was to receive a Chief Commissioner’s Commendation.

My Mum started to cry and my Dad couldn’t believe it. Rebecca was relieved that the secret was out as she’d been worried she would let it slip for the last fortnight!

The day arrived and I went with my Mum, Dad, Grandad, my two Care Team members, Chris and Rebecca to Harrogate Police Station where I met Lisa Winward, the Chief Commissioner for North Yorkshire Police along with Sgt Paul Cording who had nominated me.

I remember being quite nervous, but Lisa put me at ease. We spent a while chatting about Road Safety Talks and everything we had done over the last few years.

I was and still feel extremely honoured to have received such a Commendation. North Yorkshire Police have been and continue to be a huge support of the Road Safety Talk project and we are so very grateful for this support.

We all went out for a celebratory meal afterwards with everyone which was a lovely end to a very special day.
